The One With The Memories of My Childhood

I got to admit, I was never really a fan of Korean cuisine until my Dad introduced me to this restaurant.

When I was in grade school, (yeah we all know that’s kinda young) I was brought to this restaurant named “Kaya” which up until now I have no idea if it means something in Korean. All I know is that, this restaurant has changed my life.

I bet most of us has been picky when it comes to food. I admit, the Korean cuisine wasn’t my thing. I’ve puked on several Korean restaurants which proves that my stomach can’t really accept what I have been eating. Having said that, Kaya has changed my appettite when it comes to their cuisine. Surprising yet splendid!

As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, we’ve been out and about in Makati since I was a kid. And one of the best moments I have had is whenever we go to my favorite korean restaurant. KAYA

There’s nothing much to say but the I love Kaya because it gives me the homey feeling. I could relive the moments I have spent with my family. It isn’t quite pricey yet the taste is absolutely a 100! Honestly, we’ve been at this place for more than ten years. And still we find it exciting everytime we visit the Glorietta and Rockwell branch.

As accustomed, what is served is a bowl of soup. Contains slices of onions and strings of scrambled eggs. The perfect way to start your meal! Don’t worry, it’s on the house.

Here’s a short list of Kaya’s MUST TRY’s

Kalbi Gui Angus

  • Slices of US short ribs which are also a part of their House Specialty
  • Comes with their signature sauce
  • Perfect with steamed rice
  • IMG_2741

Dak Bulgogi

  • Grilled spicy chicken fillet
  • Also to be cut
  • Perfect with steamed rice

There’s actually no need of extra sauce since the seasoned chicken fillet itself would give its taste. You could also request to have it extra spicy or have it in mild.

Yukjegang

  • Spicy Beef and Vegetable Soup
  • With Sweet Potato Noodles
  • Better get your napkins out, this is surely going to heat you up!

Chulpan Ojingo

  • Sizzling Garlic Squid
  • I highly recommend this! If you’re up for something garlic-y and pungent, better have this ordered!
  • From the head to the squid’s tentacles, it would surely make you crave more!

Goon Mandoo

  • Fried Dumplings!
  • Honestly, it is so full of flavor and different! Totally not your usual Korean dumplings!

And since we were considered “regulars

A rack of pineapple was served to us from our favorite server, Joel 🙂 He has known us for years since we were already considered regulars. It is so wise of them to still take care of their loyal customers. Great servers, indeed! 😌

There’s a lot more than what I have shared above. Kaya’s home-y yet vibrant feeling just takes me back to my childhood. Having a meal here isn’t expensive, it would just cost you more or less a hundred.

This nostalgic feeling is what I have been coming back for. The food was delightful and flavorsome! I honestly just can’t put it into words but it’s actually worth it! All I know is that I wouldn’t replace this Korean restaurant to any other.
