The nearest place around the Metro where you can have a chill drink with your friends while having to play extraordinary board games. A place where you never have to worry that you will get drunk because you will surely just enjoy the games. A place where you can play whatever board game you wish to buy but cannot afford. A place where there are series-inspired board games. This is the Ludo Board Game Bar and Cafè. Located around Tomas Morato, along with all the other Scouts.
Ludo Boardgame Bar and Café is Manila’s first and premiere boardgame bar and café.
Ludo Boardgame Bar and Café opened its doors on March 2014 in Quezon City as the first bar and cafe dedicated to boardgames and recreation.
“From a former garage, it has transformed itself to a home that is flourishing with tabletop culture and a hub for boardgame enthusiasts. From being a niche among the swarm of cafés, Ludo has now made a name for itself as one of the country’s top spot for game aficionados.”
Upon entering the Café, a server approaches and asks the number of people in your group. This would lead your group to your designated table. The area is actually divided for partners and to those who would come into groups. It doesn’t neccessarily mean that you would stay in a smaller spot, it just actually separates the larger groups from the smaller ones.
After being lead to our seats, the servers immediately offered us their menu.
As you can see, the group is not allowed to play without having to order a meal and a specialty drink.
Here’s what they have to offer:
Unlike any other board game cafe’s, Ludo serves beers- International, Local and hard drinks.
Once you have ordered, the server would surely ask if you have been to there place or not. I actually answered that I have been to other board game shops but he generally just wants to know if I have been to their exact shop, and of course I answered no. The thing is, they actually function well differently here.
Afterwards, the server introduced himself as our assistant. He will be instructing as with the do’s and dont’s and whatever queries we might ask.
Before having the chance to pick our own board game, he then came back with 3 different types of board games; a word game, a mathematical game and a strategy game. With respect and courtesy, he asked if we wanted to hear the board games he suggests us to play or just go and pick whatever we want. Without hesitation, we immediately entertained his top picks and enlightened us with the various games’ instructions. Once we have finally learned how to play the 3 board games, he just stood at the side of our table and watched us play. We were actually struggling at first, although his presence comes in handy whenever we were having difficulty trying to play the game.
8-10 mins have passed, our first order was served.
The Super Nacho Chips (P250)
It is actually served altogether but I honestly requested to separate every condiment and toppings in it. Shockingly, they accepted my request right away! Haha!
Then my Vanilla Milkshake which costs P180 from the Special Non-Alcoholic menu. Definitely a must try for those with sweet tooth!
Minutes have passed, we found ourself enjoying the first few games we were playing. And it is absolutely unique. They offer extra-ordinary board games which others may find insanely expensive in toy stores. Rest assured that there would be enough games for you guys to play even if the place gets jam packed! There are honestly too many board games to choose from and I betcha ass will be wanting to stay longer.
Throughout our stay, he never left our side and instructed us with every game we chose. Moments after we have played his suggested board games, we stood up and chose what we wanted to play and there he was, preparing our table and guiding us with the game’s rules. Their staff were actually very accommodating and interactive.
This was one of the most mind buggling games so far!
- Pick your desired category
- Press the red button (as it will serve as your time)
- Answer whatever is in the category while pressing the first letter, then hit the red button (to start the next player’s turn)
Once every letter has been pressed, the five yellow buttons will be squeezed to start answering with the new letters. However, when the bell rings before he has been able to answer, the player loses.
It was actually so fun that we managed to topped other group’s voices in the café. We kept screaming because Tapple keeps us under time pressure. Haha!
After an hour of laughing our lungs out, we got hungry again and ordered their Bacon Cheese Balls (new from their menu)
You could actually stay as long as you want but be considerate and order on their menu. Reservations are also available but the group could only stay for not more than 4 hours. To give way to their dear walk-in customers.

To cut it short: ★/5
Location: ★★★★ Actually quite difficult to locate
Area: ★★★★ Air Conditioned; However, their rest room is small and for unisex
Food: ★★★ Really just intended for snacks
Price: ★★★★ Quite pricey but I understand that they also need to preserve their board games
