Another amazing weekend spent at our usual spot at Ayala
An upscale restaurant which office-workers and food enthusiasts keep raving about, which as of 2016, can now be located in four branches around the Metro- at Greenhills, TriNoma, UP Town and my experience at the Greenbelt 5.
Popular for its distinct and flavorful offerings, The Torch features loads of dishes from different cuisines. From Spanish, Italian, American, Japanese and Filipino dishes, the Torch surely serves the most mouthwatering platters! It is actually a place for family dinners, business meetings, colleague bondings because of its wide meal variations and its formal yet cozy ambiance. Makati’s the Torch can make you feel like you are in a paradise! Besides the fact that it is faced in front of Greenbelt’s garden, its interior’s composed of sculptures-to make it elegant, bamboo reeds-to bring comfort & coziness and wide glass panes-to provide better lighting.
What makes them different from any other restaurants that offer the same list of cuisines is that- the Torch serves most of their dishes with an eccentric twist!
I won’t longer keep you waiting. Here is a list of what you should try with your buddies at The Torch! (Meals with “*” are the must-try’s)
Before even considering ordering your appetizers, you guys might want to wait for the waiter to serve you their fried pasta. It’s usually served (before) but I think it is now actually served upon request. Don’t worry, it’s on the house. Although, I am not so sure why they did not served it right away on this visit. Anyway, this fried pasta is somehow uncooked. Basically, it is an uncooked pasta! It actually tastes good for starters and it is also quite crunchy. Take it easy there, it’s totally not greasy/oily. Don’t you worry about the cholesterol count!

American Fusion of Steak and Egg
Torched 3 ounces of US Angus Steak wrapped in bacon with the egg of your choice and buttered garlic rice
Dessert, Shakes, Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
Steaks; Steak Fondue (P879.95) Tomahawk Steak which ranges from full-2,000-2200 grams (P6,799.95) half-1000-1100 grams (P3,499.95) single-3oo grams (P1,195.95) Believe me, it’s worthy!
And the highlight of today’s visit at the Torch is the US Angus Tenderloin Salpicao Medallion!
(it is actually bigger in reality)
Medallions of Certified Angus Beef, wrapped with bacon and served with garlic parsley rice and sautéed french beans and gravy (I haven’t mentioned on my previous blog posts that besides my love for real meat, I am still in search for the best mashed potatoes around the Metro and I must say, this mashed potato was quite creamy)
As you can see, the vegetables, mashed potato and the medium rare steak wrapped in bacon is placed on top of a marble granite plate. You ask why? Because it is another form of cooking! Underneath the half-inched marble plate is a burner. It is usually served medium rare for it is still being heated! While devouring this steak, you could actually see and hear it being grilled! Just remember to toss it so that it wouldn’t get burnt. As a steak enthusiast, I firmly believe that it is served in a marble plate so you could choose which doneness level you prefer.
Here’s a low quality shot of the burner underneath
Almost everything at The Torch is worth trying!
It is somehow sophisticated also quite the money but who cares? If you’re a woman like me who is fond of steaks and twists, then you better try this!
The servers were attentive and snappy! You could notice from them that they are well-trained and fluent in English. The over all service encounter was great! In fact, after eating these chunks of meat, you might wanna visit the restroom. Good thing- the restaurant’s comfort room is spotless and also has a bidet. In case you want your food to exit the dark room immediately. However, the rest room could only accommodate 1 person at a time. You gotta fall in line though.
To cut it short: ★/5
